An Old Wire Bridge Above The River

Another day into the mountains and I suppose it was time to get wet to capture the landscape in all its glory !

The crystal clear and very cold waters of Acheloos river (Tzoumerka – Epirus, Greece) and the old wire bridge that hangs above the river for more than 50 years, created a very beautiful landscape that it was simply to good to resist and not get my feet wet !

I used Tokina Firin 20mm wide angle lens with a Hoya ProND1000 (10-stop) filter to reduce the small flow of the water and to create some reflections, and also the Hoya Grad ND10 filter to darken the bright sky.

A Speck of Light in the Night Sky

A Speck of Light in the Night Sky

Last weekend I was visiting a favorite place of mine in the mountains of Epirus and while I hadn’t planned from before to film that night, when I saw the clear sky full of stars I immidiately grabbed my camera and drove to a vantage point just in time to catch the Milky Way passing above the faraway mountain.

It was also the perfect opportunity to test my new wide angle lens, the Tokina Firin 20mm f/2.

I also used the Hoya Red Enhancer filter to eliminate the light pollution coming from the town of Arta in the right corner of the frame, and the filter did a great job, retaining the darkness of the night sky.

And for this night, the heavens held me a surprise, catching just three frames before the end of my timelapse, a bright meteor getting straight down in the middle of the frame !

The most amazing and beautiful time of day is Dawn. Especially when you are in the mountains. I consider myself more than blessed that I have the opportunity to be outdoors often, be in nature with my wife and our lovely daughters. It is very important to me as it cleanses my soul from the negativity of our time.
